Brittany Ferries Pet Information

If you love your holidays but always feel sad at the prospect of leaving behind your four-legged friend, then Brittany Ferries have the answer. With the PETS Travel Scheme, we make it easy for you to take your dog or cat on holiday. All you need to be on your way together is a valid DEFRA certificate which is available from any registered vet. From just 15 your cat or dog can travel on any of our routes to France, in the comfort of your own car. If travelling to Spain the cost is from 60 return, and there are dedicated kennels available on board. We think you'll agree it's a small price to pay for so much added enjoyment.

Some FAQ's regarding the transport of animals
Where does my dog stay during the crossing? Two sizes of kennels are provided for dogs on mv Pont-Aven with the exception of the Plymouth to Roscoff route. On our other vessels, animals will only be permitted to travel in the owner/escort's vehicle. Animals are not permitted in the passenger areas of the ship.

Can I visit my animal during the crossing? At the discretion of the crew and conditions permitting, owners may visit their animal on the car deck at pre-arranged times during the course of the voyage.

Brittany Ferries dominates services on the superferries sailing the Western Channel routes between the UK and France. Present figures shows that Brittany Ferries carries in excess of 50 % of all UK passengers to Western France and a significant percentage of the UK to Spain market via its Plymouth to Santander route, totaling over 2,750,000 passengers and 800,000 cars in 2007. Brittany Ferries currently operate seven routes on eight conventional ferries and one fast craft and this includes the Pont-Aven which is the largest and fastest ferry ever to operate from a UK port to destinations in France and Spain. Brittany Ferries describe their purpose built vessels as cruise ferries offering facilities and standards of comfort more common on a cruise ship rather than a cross channel ferry. Facilities include shopping malls, cinemas, restaurants, bars, tourist offices and even swimming pools. Brittany Ferries sails from Plymouth, Poole and Portsmouth to the French ports of Roscoff, St Malo, Cherbourg and Caen. Brittany Ferries also sails to Santander in Spain and Cork in Ireland.
