The Calais Car Ferry terminal is directly linked to the A16 and A26 autoroutes which in turn feed into the entire European motorway system.
Principle port on the European mainland for links with Great Britain Calais is also a large traditional commercial port with the important advantage of an industrial area virtually on the quay side.
It required 20 months (From January 1997 to August 1998) to establish the new system of traffic control at the Calais Car Ferry Terminal. In scale the work carried out can only be compared with the construction of a major motorway project.

Two level and double width ramps permit the smooth and efficient movement of embarking and disembarking traffic.
The Calais Car Ferry Terminal building was built in 1980. However time and weather have had their effect and renovation took place between February 1998 and February 1999.
